Paracycling Team Ireland entered Paralympic Year 2012 with the goal of qualifying 5 bikes, 1 more than the 2008 Beijing Games. This would involve travelling the world to compete in World Cup and World Championships to gain qualification points for the London Paralympic Games.
The journey started with great success at the Track World Championships at Home Depot Velodrome in Carson City, LA this February with the riders gaining an unprecedented 2 Golds, a silver and 6 top 10 finishes. This was a fantastic start as it qualified 7 bikes in total for the London Paralympics at such an early stage in the year. This included current double World Champion Hand Cyclist Mark Rohan.
