Most modern reels are typically designed and constructed so they provide years of service when properly maintained. Materials, service and use, tolerances, alignment, part configuration, and other criteria are considered when designing today's reels. Fishing Reel bearings are generally supplied dry, without any grease or oil. But many Reel Repair shops still like to flush out the bearings to be sure they are completely dry. This is not a necessary step for bearings already supplied dry by Boca Bearings, but it is a good guideline for older bearings or bearings that already have a thick, viscous lubricant in them... read more »

Our group, Hmong Kayak Fishing Club, started with four friends (Rocky Ly, KB Xiong, Tony Yang and Will Yang) who found the sport of kayak fishing to be most fun and rewarding. We banded together to form our Facebook-operated club in hopes to make aware the sport of kayak fishing to our Hmong community.

Fishing reel bearings are located throughout both spinning and baitcasting reels wherever there are components that must spin/rotate. The spool, pinion gear and under drag washers, They serve to facilitate the rotation of gears, knobs, spools and even level wind devices. Without them, the term "smooth" would not be in our fishing reel vocabulary. Fishing would be more of an ordeal than the enjoyable experience it is today.
