Started with a custom designed 600 class frame set and began a stretching project, Took it from a 600 class to 700 then to 800, 900 and ended at 1000
When did you start working on this project and how long did it take you to complete?
This all began in October of 2011 and progressed till present
What was your goal in building this project?
To create the first 1000 class electric helicopter using all off the shelf available components
Does your project help to solve a problem? If so what problem?
Actually it did, it made for a unique aerial photography platform, capable of 20 minute flights
What makes your idea unique?
To my knowledge, it has never been done, this is the first of it's kind, to take a 600 class helicopter and stretch it 4 classes above it's original design and have it perform as well as it does.
In what capacity are you using bearings and what type of bearings?
Ceramic motor bearings, sealed ceramic main shaft bearings.
What is the most important thing you want people to know about your project?
Any one who wants to own/fly a larger class RC Helicopter. It can now be done safely at a fraction of the cost of the big name manufacturers.
How will you use the $5,000 prize?
Is it possible to create a 1500 class machine???
