The Boca Bearing Company believes in supporting dedicated athletes & enthusiasts. We feel these individuals are the best ones to help us spread the word and educate others about their sport of choice and the Boca Bearings product line. We have many objectives with the Team Boca Bearings sponsorship program aside from winning races and setting records. Boca Bearings team members are required to satisfy a brief list of requirements each year to be considered for sponsorship renewal or upgrade.     My name is Matthew Akkola, and I represent one-half of Third Coast Racing (TCR). I have been racing R/C cars since 1981 and currently run 1/10 sedan and 1/8th scale nitro- on road. TCR races primarily in Texas, but will contest in several other major events around the nation. We focus on providing help to anyone who wants it.

    Cody Armstrong is a 28 years old and has been RC racing for a couple of years. Cody started with 2wd short course off road and 4wd short course this last season. I run stock touring during the winter and is starting his second season in that. He does well in the short course and improves in the on road.

    Randy Barymon is a 33 years old RC driver living in Jonesboro Arkansas. Randy has only been racing RC for the past year, but has been into the RC hobby for about 13 years. He's currently running in the stock SCT, 1/8 scale Buggy, and SC oval classes at the local off road/dirt oval track. Although he has only been racing for 1 year Randy has had much success at the local and regional level with many first places and podium finishes. Above all he has been having a lot of fun competing and socializing with other like minded people. Randy likes to help the other new racers at the track with their race setups and truck repairs. Randy is never far removed from RC as he spends most of his free time hanging out at the local hobby shop and on forums learning about the hobby. To support his hobby Randy works as a nurse at a local hospital and also teaches Radiology at Arkansas State University.

    My name is Gary Bates. I am a 34 year old Welder by trade, and currently live in Schererville, Indiana. I really enjoy racing Electric and Nitro powered RC cars on the Dirt Oval scene. I have recently focused my efforts on the 1/8 Outlaw Late Model class, in which I have had very good success. During the 2010 and 2011 seasons, I won over 20 A-Mains and had many podium finishes. The best part of RC Racing is being able to spend time and have fun with my friends and family.

    Joshua Beach, I race R/C 1/10th scale Dirt Oval EDM race cars. I am a member of CDRC Racers. Our club is on the WDRA tour, http://www.dirtoval.com/forums/ and we actually host 2 stops on the tour at 2 different tracks(the only club on the tour with 2 tracks Science and Hobby, and Competition Hobby) This is my second season of racing, and I have been doing phenomenally well. (rookie of the year) I have been on the podium (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) 6 of the last 8 races, and at the last BIG WDRA Race at Lake Ariel, PA. Raced electric 1/10 buggies, electric 1/10 stadium trucks, and nitro 1/10 stadium trucks in New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Canada from 1991 to 2001. Race director for a Hobbytown USA franchise from 2000 to 2001. Moved to Jacksonville, Florida 2002.

    Brian Bourland is 32 years old and has been regularly racing since 2001. He was first interested in RC as a child and his first hobby grade vehicle was a Tamiya grasshopper. I got my initial taste of racing in the 90's with 1/10 off-road. Then I got RC 10gt in 2000 and that has led to regularly racing almost ever since. Brian mainly races 1/8 electric Buggy and 1/8 nitro buggy. This year he had started racing in the 4x4 short course class as well.

    Mikey Bustamante is 19 years old. He was born and raised in Las Vegas Nevada and started racing RC cars about 7 years ago.     Walt Carpenter is an air condition tech by profession but on the weekend he is driving RC truggy. He mainly competes around his city or in national competitions. When he started he was only able to compete in in-door events, due to weather conditions. Today, Walt lives in the south where he can race twice a week in many outside tracks and compete in races. Walt competed recently in the Ponchatrain Point Series which took place in Springfield, LA and St Charles, LA. Walt was racing his Nitro Buggy and competed in the expert Nitro Buggy Class. He ended up taking 3rd in the overall competition.

    Jose Castellano is a 23 year old RC driver. Jose competes in the Forgass series for on-road nitro cars racing which has 9 races a year. Jose has been racing for about a year now and continually improves his skills. Recently he had traveled to a few races such as the NovaRossi Challenge, BYRONS RACE, Region 4 Championships. Jose's goal for 2012 is to race in the Nationals.

    Diatta Collymore has been racing for 8 years. Currently, Diatta runs the Xray NT1 and Xray T3 for both nitro and electric touring car classes. Diatta has always wanted to race, so after his first time experiencing a track when he was younger, it was almost a given that he would be hooked. In 2012 Diatta is looking to compete in as many major U.S. races as he can, including the Gas Sedan Nationals and Winter Nationals.

    Walter Cosico has been racing for Boca Bearings for over 4 years. Since then he hasn't ran anything other than the Orange Seal bearings. Walter has competed in many national events in the past and even made the A main once in Florida. He races 1/10th scale touring cars and also runs for Team Xray/Hudy. Walter lives and competes in Southern California and races in 3 big races nationwide every year.     I'm James Davenport I've been racing 1/10 scale RC cars since I was 8 or 9. I started at a race track called the Salinas RC car club ran by my parents in Salinas California. Since then I have attended many tracks and a couple of national and world level race events. They include Roar 2006 carpet nationals, Roar 2006 Asphalt nationals, Reedy race 2009,2010 and 2011. I am by no means a top level driver and didn't place top 10 in any of the national or world level races I attended, but every time I go I do a lot better than before and I learn new things and meet new people. I have however take podium finishes in a couple of trophy races held at tracks in my area in the past 3 years. Those include the Top Gun and Carpet madness races held at Nor-Cal, I took 2nd and 1st respectively. I also race constantly just about every weekend at my local race track Nor-Cal Hobbies.

    My name is Federico Duperly. I am 15 years old and I live in Georgetown, ON, Canada. I am in Grade 10 & currently attend Christ the King Catholic secondary school. I have been in the RC hobby since 2007 and have been racing since 2010. My first car was a Traxxas Tmaxx. At the moment, I have 4 cars. A Traxxas Tmaxx that I race, a Team Associated SC10 2wd that I also race, a Traxxas Nitro Stampede, and an HPI savage 25. During the 2010 Racing season at my local RC club, I won 1st place in the monster truck championship.

    My name is Wyatt Durrer I have always loved to play with RC Cars since I was a kid. I have been racing locally and regionally for approximately 3yrs. I am currently sponsored by Hobby Pro USA, Byron's Fuel, and now Boca Bearings. I have recently finished 1st overall open truggy and 2nd overall open buggy at the RC PRO NAT QUAL in Cape Fear NC. I also finished 2nd in pro buggy and 4th in pro truggy for the RC PRO VA STATE SERIES. I am attending the Fall Brawl at The Badlands coming up the first week of December.

Eric has been racing for 4years and was the 2010 Missouri Sportsman Champion and the 2010 Intermediate Buggy Champion for the RC Pro Series. Gabriel is a new Boca Bearings sponsored driver in 2012.

    Pedro Gonzalez is from Puerto Rico and is currently living in Long Island, NY. He has always enjoyed racing RC cars. He has begun racing at age 9 when his father gave him his first RC. Pedro has been using Xray cars 1/10 electric from the T1 FK'05 to all the Xray T2 and now Xray T3 for Nitro. Pedro competed in the 2008 and 2009 I95 shout out, 2009 Capital Classic, 2007 All Nitro Regional Race, 2010 NovaRossi Challenge and many more local and regional events.

    In 2012 Pedro is planning on competing in the GLC challenge and the electric on road nationals.

    My name is Jason Hack I live in De forest, WI which is about 10 miles north of Madison. I am married and have a 2 year old daughter. I started racing RC cars in 1995, my first car was a Bolink Legend. I later graduated up to pan car carpet oval racing at the Madison club. I raced oval on and off for the next 13 years competing in the Roar oval nationals with 2 A main finishes. I have race at the snowbird nationals 3 times with one A-main finish. In 2009 I raced some 1/12 scale on-road and in 2011 I switched over to off-road racing 1/8 scale nitro in the summer and 1/10 scale electric in the winter. In 2011 I participated in the Midwest Nitro Series and finished 7th in the season points standings in both Truggy and Buggy with 1 A-main win and 4 top five finishes in my rookie year in the intermediate class. I plan on racing at Trackside Hobbies and Raceway in Brookfield, WI this winter racing a Losi xxx-sct short course truck and a 22 buggy. I also plan on competing in the 2012 Midwest Nitro series.

    Richard Hitchcock has raced RC cars since 1990 when he got his first RC10. Richard now has 12 vehicles and races over half of them in various places as well as for fun. He got into DIRT EDM racing in the late 90s ans left it in the early 2000s, then recently got re-introduced to dirt car racing and has been doing it again since 2005. Richard runs several local tracks within a 2 hour drive window. He is currently following the WDRA circuit in central NY.

    For Tony Keigley racing RC cars and IMCA dirt modified's is his absolute passion. Being involved in these hobbies allows him to spend quality time with family and friends. Tony also loves to get people involved in RC racing, especially kids. Making sure that kids get involved in these hobbies helps to establish mechanical abilities and problem solving skills. Helping any racer at racing events is also a great part of the hobby. In 2012 Tony plans on attending all RC Pro South events and competing in open buggy and truggy. Winning a national championship is a very important goal in both classes. Keigley will also be attending such races as the Ice Breaker Classic, Futaba Challenge, Dialed Inc. Championships, Alabama Manufacturers Shootout, Southern Nationals, Lone Star Classic, and Texas Off Road Championships.

    My name is Justin Mitchell, and I am from Goldsboro, NC. I have been racing real cars and go karts since the age of 5, and I started racing RC cars 3 years later. I have been around racing my whole life, and my milk bottle 6 weeks after I was born was warmed on a super late model motor at Wake County Speedway were my birth was also announced. This may be what immediately put racing into my blood, but being raised near RC cars, and racing turned to be a very bad thing for the wallet.     Chris Moore has been racing since he was about six. Chris started with RC cars then raced go-karts. From there he went on to race imca dirt modified. Now that Chris is back into RC cars he only wants to move forward. Racing is his life, not just a hobby.

    David Morton has been around racing all his life. After spectating his first Pro R/C race, he had been addicted ever since. David races the 8th Scale Nitro Buggy & Truggy class, with a Serpent S-811B and S-811T. Both are powered by Alpha Engines which are fueled by Byrons fuels, and use Savox Electronics.

    Bill Oxidean is a National Champion in fast electric radio controlled model boat racers. He grew up in San Leandro, California where he first got into RC cars at the age of 5. Bill started racing boats competitively in 1999 and holds countless straight-line seed world records as well as national titles.

    Just recently Bill has participated in the Gary Johnson Grand Prix Classic Venom/Novak driver and Bill TQ'd and took second place in Sport 21 Hydro with the Venom Miss Excite hydro.

    Oxidean also TQ'd and took second in A-mod tunnel. Both classes were dominated by nitro boats. Bill showcased excellent driving by finishing first place in 6 out of 8heats that weekend.

    Garrett Passmore is from Massachusetts and races at his local track, Fear Farm, in Arizona. Garrett runs the Hot Bodies D8. He started racing 5 years ago with a Losi stadium truck. In the RC world Garrett Iooks up to all of the pros that he wants to be like. In 2012 his plans are to run in bigger races like the nitro challenge and to run smooth clean lap times.

    Jeffrey Phillips started collecting RC engines several years ago while recovering from an illness. He has tested hundreds of glow engines and continues to buy, sell and repair them for people. Jeffrey is also affiliated with SIG Model Airplanes and has written a review online for the Aviastar 46 and 53 glow engines and also helped to repair faulty carburetors for them.

    Jeffrey has an online presence in the forums RCUniverse and RCGroups as jeffie8696, He assists people with their glow engine problems with a total post count currently somewhere near 4000. He is a member of the Iowa City Aerohawks flying club where he is a club officer and a member of the Muscatine Miniature Aircraft Association. Jeffrey is currently assisting a new hobby store Star Collectibles in Muscatine.

    Mark Rodrigues is 35 years old living in Lynnwood, Washington. Mark has been racing RC Short Course trucks for about 3 years now but had been in the RC hobby since he was 12 years old.     Marcin Śliwerski is a 16 years old RC driver from Poland. Marcin races off-road RC cars and has been into this hobby since he can remember. He has now been competing for 2 years. Marcin races Losi 8ight-E car and trains to compete in the class E10 4wd Kyosho Lazer SP. In the 2011 season he took podium spot 12 times.     Renzo has participated in forty marathons ( 26.2 miles), seven triathlons and many shorter distance races. These are some of the results that he has achieved during his career: finished in first place in the Wheelchair Division of the Miami Marathon in 2003, 2006 and 2007; The Disney World Marathon in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and the West Palm Beach Marathon in 2004,2005, 2006 and 2007. Renzo also placed 11th in the 2007 Boston Marathon. First place in the Nautica South Beach Triathlon in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In the 2006 and 2007 Los Angeles marathon Renzo finished in third place in his age group.

    Renzo is also the current course record holder for the handcycle division in the Nautica South Beach Triathlon. He is currently intensely training to prepare for the 2011 ~ 2012 racing season. Besides marathons in Miami, West Palm Beach, Los Angeles and Boston, Renzo is preparing to be the first elite athlete with a disability to ride in a racing wheelchair across the island of Hispaniola in a single day. This event will raise the profile of the adaptive sports in the Dominican Republic. Renzo's longer term goal is qualifying for the Paralympics in London in 2012, both in the marathon and adaptive cycling (handcycling) road races.

"I've been fortunate to compete in top level races across Europe, the USA, South America Africa and the Caribbean. During my career I have won time trials, Criteriums, circuit races and been part of a team that won the Race across America in 2010."

    In addition to competing in cycling races James tries to be an ambassador for type one diabetes. He has had the condition since he turned 18 and was told he would have to stop racing bike. "I have proven that you can achieve anything you want with diabetes and I want to spread this message to young people with type one.     The Doppler Effect, a team of 5 engineering students from Girraween High School participating in the F1 in Schools competition run by the REA. ( http://www.f1inschools.org.au/) This competition involves making model race cars and showcasing them. However this is only 1/3 of the competition. The total possible score is 900 and the actual vehicle only represents 300 points. The other 600 points include marketing, folio and booth displays. Our team has come first in the regional level, second at the state level and have received a wildcard entry to the national event in Adelaide due to our car being fastest in the state (1.15 seconds over 20 metres). The event will be held between the 27th of February and the 1st of March.

    Hi-Octane is an F1-in schools racing team from Melba Copland Secondary School. The 'F1 in schools' competition, is an engineering challenge racing really aerodynamic micro cars against teams around the world. We are at the moment using very powerful CAD engineering software to design and test our car at school and then, with the help of the Royal Australian Navy, will cut out and manufacture their design.

    Octane Racing is an F1 in Schools team from Dundalk Grammar School that will be representing Ireland in the World Finals competition held in Malaysia on the 17th of September. Octane gained the opportunity to compete in the World Finals by winning the Irish National F1 in schools challenge on the 7th of April. During the competition the team won the Fastest Car award at the Regional and National Finals achieving an Irish record of 1.130 seconds using Boca Bearings "73-PP/TP/C3 Z/S #5 SRL Radial Full Ceramic" bearings.

    Team Black Bird 1.0, consists of six students from The Indian High School, Dubai, U.A.E, participating in the prestigious Formula One in Schools Technology Challenge. This challenge is a well-known international competition involving designing, analyzing, making, testing and racing a miniature model of an F1 car. The central objective of F1 in Schools, which spans over 30 nations, is to transform the conventional perceptions of engineering, science & technology and ultimately pave a path for new, innovative & effective ideas as solutions from and for the new generation at a global level.

    Black Bird has been a part of F1 for the past 3 years. The team's recent achievement was winning two awards: one for Best Display Pit and another for Best Team Identity. Also, the official record set at the international level, two years back, was 1.02 seconds which was broken by Black Bird's car, at 1.009 seconds with help of Boca Bearings.

    This year, the team aims to qualify from the Middle East event, to go head to head with the best of the best, internationally to win the coveted Bernie Ecclestone F1 in Schools championship trophy.

Our teams in past years have been very successful in the F1 in Schools competition, placing first and second for three successive years.
