Tell us briefly about your project. Is it a work of art or does it serve another function?

i am currently building the Rostock Delta 3D printer(Designed by a guy named Johann, many parts available on Thingiverse).

When did you start working on this project and how long did it take you to complete?

I began this project approximately the beginning of September, 2015. and expect to complete the build before 2016.

What was your goal in building this project?

My goal in this project was to build a 3D printer that has a bigger build volume than the one i currenty have, and learn more about the RepRap firmware in the process.

Does your project help to solve a problem? If so what problem?

this project will help solve my problem with the build platform size of my M3D Micro 3D printer

What makes your idea unique?

To be honest, not much unique about my project, other than the complete lack of tools and equipment going into the project, which i have been overcoming so far.

In what capacity are you using bearings and what type of bearings?

i am using 608ZZ and 685ZZ bearings for the extruder (608ZZ), and for the GT2 Idler pulleys (685ZZ) I am also going to be using LM8UU linear bearings for the main upright rods (was going to se PLA 3D printed bushings, but this isn't going to work out).

What is the most important thing you want people to know about your project?

It's an accessible build for many people. the cost has been minimal (less than $300 so far, and i have everything but a heated bed and the LM8UU linear bearings), and the actual build hasn'e been too difficult, with patience, anyone can build one.

How will you use the $5,000 prize?

i would buy some much needed tools, as well as stock up on some hardware i need often but have difficulty finding on short notice (such as metric machine screws.). i would also (if i don't win one) maybe buy a GoPro Hero for better timelapse shots around the shop.
